Stake
The tape sets the price. The side that keeps showing up pays less. Streak multiplies it.

The slip settles on one fresh GET /v1/status. These other reads stay on the desk beside the book.
The book
How a slip settles
You call RUNNING or IDLE. The stake leaves the stack for 12 seconds of wall time. At the clock the page fetches GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status with no query string and reads measurement.coreStatus.
ACTIVE and RUNNING count as a RUNNING call. IDLE counts as IDLE. COUNTER_FAULT, a missing measurement, or a failed fetch returns the stake and leaves the streak alone. The poll that spins the wheel is a different request of the same status URL. It never settles a slip. GET /v1/settlements?range=24h, GET /v1/measurement/stats?range=7d, and GET /v1/accounts/{address}?limit=1 are the clerk's copies. A slip can quote them. They do not set the side or the price.
Price, before the streak: over the last 12 distinct readings, a side pays 1.1× plus 2.9× the other side's share. The same observedAt is one reading. Under four readings both sides pay 1.5×. Streak multiplies that price by ×1, ×1.3, ×1.6, ×2, then ×2.5, and the combined rate caps at 6×. The rate freezes on the slip. Returned chips are the stake times the locked rate, rounded. Exact rounding is in rules.js.
A miss resets the streak. Banking the streak keeps the chips and sets the multiplier back to ×1. A fresh book is 1,000 chips, and only opens when the stack is empty. The old slips stay.
Chain rounds in the measurement window are window.roundSeconds (600 on the public feed). That is the chain's round. This book's clock is 12 seconds, and the side is coreStatus at the end of those 12 seconds.
Anchor height on a slip is builder.anchor.blockHeight, the settled frontier. Projected blocks are not used. RPM is measurement.rpmMilli.
Sign the desk with an Ethereum wallet on Sepolia (chain 11155111). The wallet signs an EIP-4361 message. This page recovers the signer locally and opens that address's chip stack. The guest stack stays under squeek-call-v2. A signed stack is squeek-call-v3: plus the address. The signature proves the key signed in on this host. It does not send a transaction, move SQK, or stake the chips. Clearing site data clears the books. There is no Squeek Call contract.
